Here at Memory Labs, we're on a mission. But before we delve into our mission, we need to rewind.
In February of 2017, we were at a hackathon at UC Davis, where we built a voice-based memory & health aid. We ourselves had grandparents who went through neurodegenerative disorders; we wanted to build something that could change the way families could care for them.
After winning the hackathon, many individuals approached us complimenting our project. Many were generic congratulations, but slowly, there emerged a pattern.
Many of these people had grandparents who suffered through neurodegenerative diseases. They said if Memory existed while they were caring for their parents and grandparents, it would've helped their family immensely.
That got us thinking.
We went home that evening and started looking at some figures. Here's what we found:
- There are over 40 million family members providing informal medical care for their loved ones.
- 1 in 3 of informal caregivers suffer from caregiver burnout and depression
- Pill mismanagement and forgetfullness causes over 50% of those receiving informal care to miss doses and appointments
- Many seniors are left with no choice but assisted/independent living facilities because their loved ones are remote and cannot provide care
To us, this was criminal. There had to be a better way for people to take care of their loved ones, no matter where they are. That's when we decided to start building Memory for everyone.
Building a Better Mousetrap
Over the last 6 months, we've worked tirelessly to bring you a solution.
We've built the MemoryMap and the MemoryModule to make it easy to provide care anywhere in the world, while reducing the stress-load of caregiving so that you can maintain your lifestyle while caring for your loved ones.
We're committed to making life as easy as possible for you. We've consolidated some resources on our webpage and are currently running a "Caregiver Tip of the Week" campaign on our Facebook Page.
Please fill out our pre-order form to see how Memory can start improving your life. We hope you join us on this wild ride to improve the lives of many.
